Your Mac shows a QR code. Point your phone at it and they're paired.

Nothing leaves your home or office

Your messages travel straight from your phone to your Mac across the Wi-Fi you're already on. They never touch our servers, because there aren't any.

There's no account to create, no password to lose, and nothing for anyone to leak. Turn the Wi-Fi off and the whole thing simply stops.

For the technically minded

Pairing performs an X25519 key exchange authenticated by the QR code, which carries a single-use secret valid for two minutes. Traffic is AES-256-GCM in length-prefixed frames, with separate keys and counters in each direction so a captured frame can't be replayed at its sender.

Every paired phone holds its own key relationship. There is no shared group key, so one compromised device can't read another's traffic. Session keys are derived fresh on each reconnect, so a phone lost next year can't decrypt a recording made today.
